The Fallen Blade

Venice, 1407. A powerful city with powerful enemies.

Duke Marco has the throne, but his ruthless aunt and uncle rule in his stead, scheming against their enemies and each other. The pawn at the heart of their struggle is the Duke’s young cousin, Lady Giuletta. When she is abducted by Mamluk pirates, it is an outrage that will trigger war.

As the Germanic emperor and Mamluk sultan gather their forces against the city, Venice is heading for a battle it will surely lose. Its only hope lies in a mysterious boy possessed of inhuman strength and speed – and a past wrapped in mystery.

‘His Venice is a dangerous place of dank, cut-throat malevolence, peopled by leap-off-the-page characters . . . a page-turning read’ Guardian

‘Dark and majestic’ Financial Times

‘Political, compelling, dark and urbane, this is a unique and stylish book’ Pornokitsch

  • What a relief, the book was excellent - can't say I liked the cover as much as some of the others (never like seeing a character as imagined by somebody else, even the author - sorry but that's feedback) and I was dreading some sort of "Twilight" werewolves vs vampires story (not having read or watched any of this crap!). However, much as I will miss Asraf Bey and co., this is a quality read, I've reread it twice already and I'm looking forward to the next in the series, as ever! Cheers JonC.

  • Wonderful read. I found myself becoming more and more sad as the ending approached. When it finally arrived, I was wishing that The Outcast Blade was available! More Tycho and Giulietta, please. Let's speed this one to press!
